Productivity savings
After 4 years experience on our
OTTA method (Optimisation of Thermal
Transfer in Autoclave), we can demonstrate savings of up
to 20 %
on
the total program time.
These
savings can be applied with all pasteurised or
sterilised products
in static retorts when they receive conventional treatment. Our OTTA
method allows a very quick installation (approximately one day) and
doesn't
require any equipment investment.
Steam savings
The steam consumption of autoclaves, and the
quantity of CO² rejected, can be reduced by up to 20 % depending on
the fittings.
OTTA method (Optimisation of Thermal
Transfert in Autoclave) enables capacity management of the
steam boilers for improved efficiency. We can use these savings to
improve
productivity.
Water savings
Autoclaves
consumption of cooling water can also be reduced by up to 30 %,
depending on the fittings and the
products. Repercussions of
such
an improvement are numerous :
- increased profits when cooling with mains water
- reduced cooling tower saturation, so that it can
work the same in all seasons
- perfect reproduction of the final temperature of the product
Savings
of 30 % and more are found when we combine the two methods 'OTTA' and
'Express Cooling', both developed and operated by AXITHERM. 'Express
Cooling' is mainly used on products with a high humidity
level,
packaged in flexible packaging (pouchs, trays, big diameter
cans...)
Compressed air costs savings
The cost of compressed air, necessary for a thermal process, is often
ignored because it is
difficult to quantify even though it forms a significant part of the
overall
cost, due mainly to its low energy performance (as low as 15%). In
addition, an inappropriate program can increase by up to 100% the
consumption of
compressed air and decrease the efficiency of the warm up in the
retort. Analysis
carried out by AXITHERM can result
in a significant increase in efficiency.
Our study includes the analysis of
compressed air consumption by your retorts and the implementation of a
revised, optimised program aimed at improving efficiency. You will be
presented
with a new, validated program that takes into consideration your
equipment performance,
products and packaging integrity. Fo, Po and cycle
length do not change.
Sensory-testing improvements
With the help of
OTTA (Optimisation of Thermal
Transfert in Autoclave),
we can build a sterilisation program especially protecting
sensory-testing of a product, so that textures, colours and tastes are
better preserved and the taste of over-cooked delayed. Different levels
of cooking between the packaging centre and periphery are less
likely. As a consequence, nutritional qualities of the products are
improved, with an unchanged Fo and the same total length of the
temperature plateau.
We propose a
personalised mapping service :
- reception checking of new
equipment (autoclave, retort, oven or deep-freezer)
- mapping of chamber
- mapping of product
- standard mapping for special
requirements (ex. FDA, etc)
To complete this service, if the performance of your different
autoclaves is not sufficiently homogeneous, AXITHERM can propose
changes of
your programs.

Programs adapted to delicate products
We can adjust the programs of time/temperature/pressure of your
products especially prone to problems resulting from high temperature
cooking, as well as distorted
packaging. We have the know-how and the equipment to operate on any
type of packaging (semi-rigid metal, plastic, multi-layer raw-material,
...) and any type of retorts (static, rotary or continuous).
Our expertise offers you the best compromise between product quality,
packaging appearance and productivity.
In this service, we propose technical assistance on site or we
can assist your development staff through your technical
adjustments remotely.
